My recent take on India’s foreign policy after Modi became India’s 15th Prime Minister. His engagement of Japan, China and the other countries are in line with India’s immediate national interest – economic development.
“继近邻之后，莫迪选择日本作为其印度次大陆之外的首访目的地。主流日本媒体的观点认为这一访问是为了对抗中国，但这一观点存在问题。由于经济问题支配着莫迪的议程，日本是一个预料中的选择。印日之间的经济合作可以回溯到1958年日本给予印度的官方开发援助（这也是日本的第一个官方开发援助），这开启了两国之间紧密合作的时代。日本所资助的德里地铁显示了日本政府对印度的经济整体增长和繁荣的重要性。此外，日本还向印度的其他发展计划提供了资助款和软贷款，包括孟买—德里货运走廊和德里—孟买工业走廊”
