“The United States exercises global leadership in support of our interests: U.S. security and that of our allies and partners….These priorities include rebalancing to the Asia-Pacific region to preserve peace and stability in the region…We will continue our contributions to the U.S rebalance to the Asia-Pacific region…the United States will maintain a robust footprint in Northeast Asia while enhancing our presence in Oceania and Southeast Asia…In particular, the rapid pace and comprehensive scope of China’s military modernization continues, combined with a relative lack of transparency and openness from China’s leaders regarding both military capabilities and intentions..”
